Augmentation in Chinese production - a new factory for operation commencement within this year
OHIZUMI MFG. augments thermistor production volume in China to address an increase in demands for air conditioning equipment and car industry. Manufacturing at the current Dongguan factory in China is no longer sufficient to meet demand there, and, a new factory building is being constructed with slated commencement of operations within this year. Production activities will be consolidated into the new factory in 2006 through 2007.
The manufacturing subsidiary in Dongguan, China, Dongguan Ohizumi Sensor Co., Ltd., commenced manufacturing operations in Apr. 2004 for sensors for air conditioners and car industry.“We succeeded in earning orders and are running our factory to the fullest extent in a volume greater than projected for car industry, as well as for sensors for local air conditioner manufacturers”, Mr. Saito, President, added. As a strategic business base in China to further expand business successfully, the new factory will be located at a place different from the current factory.
Its floor space will be 25,000 sq. meters slated to be completed within this year. Due to this extreme busyness, we must keep production running seamlessly continuing to the new factory（according to Mr. Saito, President）. For this, it will introduce new production facilities first, followed by a planned move of the current equipment to the new factory in the early part of 2006.
Products from the Dongguan factory are intended for the Chinese market and for shipment to Japan. Because the current capacity is totally taken up by the demand for Chinese air conditioners, as early commencement of operation of the new factory as feasible is aimed at.
The number of employees is currently about 1,200. About 28% of OHIZUMI MFG.’s total sales amount is manufactured by the Dongguan factory. Firstly after operation commencement, its production ratio of all OHIZUMI MFG.’s production is planned for an increase to 33% and to “50% in 3 years”（according to President）.
At this moment, its manufacturing activities rely on Japanese design and development. Its plan calls for addition of local designing and marketing capability to facilitate self-concluding type factory operations.
